Justin Long (Born: June 29, 1970) had an interest in performing in the adult industry when he was 18-years-old. His dream finally came true when he turned 27. Long traveled from Atlanta to Los Angeles with an appointment to meet a porn talent agency. And the rest is history...
The 39-year-old porn performer originally came into the adult industry sometime between 1997 and 1998. But, a motorcycle accident halted his porn career. Long returned in late-2004, and he's been working ever since.
Standing 5'10 and weighing 165 lbs, Justin Long built a career in the adult industry through his consistent performances and large phallus. He's performed in scenes for some of the biggest adult production companies (such as New Sensations, Black Ice, Sex Z Pictures, Evil Angel, Hustler Video and Black Market).
Easygoing and outspoken, Justin Long announced his retirement from the adult industry in the fall of 2009.
I sat down with Justin to chat about how he got into the adult industry, his favorite porn starlets, racial discrimination in the adult industry and why he retired from porn.
Justin Long: I came in originally in late '97, early '98. I was in for only a few months and then I wrecked my motorcycle on the way to a Playboy shoot. Then, I came back in late '04 and I've been shooting ever since. I had a lot of road rash on my hip and a scar above my elbow on my left arm. I still got some remnants of it. But, not much. I've ridden bikes all my adult life.
PC: How did you get into the adult industry?
JL: As most guys, I saw porn when I was like 15 or 16. I was with my friends. They were all like, "Wow!" (LOL) When I turned 18, I started thinking about it. And being the inquisitive fuck that I am, I looked on a VHS. They put 2257 on the front of the VHS. I called to find out. Girls always told me I was big. Blah, Blah, Blah. I called and I remember the first company I called was Vivid. They told me they only hired through agents. After a couple companies told me they only hired through agents, I finally asked what agents did they use. The only agent around back then was World Modeling. I called information and got World Modeling's number. I started calling them. Every time I called they would say they had enough male talent and to try back in two weeks. Again and again. I called pretty much every month, sometimes a couple times a month for quite a few years.
When I was 27, I had just moved out to Atlanta. I was staying at a friend's house. I just happened to call World Modeling. Steve Austin was leaving World Modeling. I think he sort of did that to screw up Jim. He said that he'd give me an interview. I told him I had been calling for four to five years and that all the girls told me I'm hung. He said they would give me a shot. And he asked when I could come. I told him I could be out there in a couple of weeks. Since, I was just living in Atlanta. He said they didn't schedule appointments out that far. They only schedule appointments three days out. He said to give them a call when i was in Los Angeles. I said, "Awe man. You really going to give me one?" He said, "Yeah."
So, I dropped everything. I left my homie a note. He's a childhood friend of mine. I got a cab to Greyhound to Ventura, California. I talked to a friend and stayed with him. Once I rolled out to California, I called up World the next day. They set me up with an appointment for the next day. My buddy let me use his car for the appointment in Sherman Oakes. He comes home at lunch and was like, "Dude, I don't want you using my car. It's my only car and you're gonna wreck it." This big drama thing ensued. We had been best friends since we were 15. He comes home after work and told me, "Dude, I'm sorry. I know I fucked this up for you..." Blah, blah blah. "...You can use my car." And I said, "If I can get an appointment back." So I called up and they were still open. They were open until 6pm. I told them my friends' dad had a heart attack. I was using his car to get down there. That's' why I couldn't show up. I asked if they could reschedule. They agreed to do that. That night, this was when Boogie Nights had just came out on DVD. And that night watching it, I remember laying on a fold out futon and I said, "I'm going to be a big bright shining star like old dude in Boogie Nights." And the next day I went to my interview.
I got there and filled out a talent form. Blake Palmer put me in a room and said to take off my clothes. He gave me a magazine and said, "Get excited. When you get wood, holler. I will take some pics." I was like, "OK." I'm 27, but I'm new to this shit. I jerk off to the magazine very uncomfortably. I get some wood and call him in. The wood's dying as he comes in. He takes a couple pics and I'm 3/4 hard. He said, "Put your clothes on and come out here. I want you to have a seat at Jim South's desk. He will talk to you." He was on the phone and slapping the Polaroids. He's looking at the pics as he's on the phone. He sets them down and gets his glasses. He looks at me and then at the pics. He gave me a smile. His first words to me were: "Wow! We are just going to have to call you 'Horse'." (LOL) Knowing Jim South and his cowboy way, being from Texas and an old school guy, he introduced himself and that was the beginning. I went to AIM. It was in the same building, just two doors down the hall. I got my blood drawn by Sharon Mitchell herself. I was booked to work, before my AIM test came back, three days later. That's how that story goes.
PC: So what led to your return to porn after your motorcycle accident?
JL: How I came back into the industry? I was doing a lot of stuff in the time I left the first time. I came back to finish school. I propped myself up. I had a regular job, but I started getting back into the game. 'Cause I knew I could make good money and have a flexible schedule. And I've been shooting pretty much full time ever since.
JL: My friend's son is named "Justin." He's 23 now. He was like 8 at the time. I always liked the name "Justin." So, if my agent was going to call me "horse", I was long. That's how I came up with "Justin Long." I didn't have much time. You kind of had to pick a name there. It wasn't like I could go home and think about it. So, I just came up with something.
PC: Were you always interested in doing porn?
JL: I wanted to since I was 16. I think most guys want to be a porn star growing up, whether they are straight or gay. It's no different than being in front of the camera in mainstream entertainment. It's just sex... and everybody has sex.
JL: It was for Zane Entertainment. I worked with a girl, who I ended up seeing off-camera for a while, by the name of Blondie Anderson. My first shoot was very interesting. Let me go back for a sec. My first scheduled shoot was for Joey Silvera with Blair Segal. It was in Los Angeles. It was a no call, no show. (LOL) It was my first scene and the girl didn't show up. My first actual scene was the Zane Entertainment shot. Mark or Matt, I get them confused sometimes, was sitting behind the desk with his girlfriend sitting on his lap. He was interviewing me and Blondie. We portrayed that it was both our first scene ever. Matt's girlfriend's sister was sitting behind Blondie in a loveseat. Blondie was pretty, but Matt's girlfriend's sister was fucking bangin'. I remember being nervous and having wood issues for a minute. I was thinking I didn't want to fuck Blondie, I wanted to fuck his girlfriend's sister. (LOL) So, that was a bit interesting. They had to clear the room for five minutes. After me and Blondie got it together and I started getting some wood, I knocked it out. I got through the first scene straight through with no wood issues and that was that.
PC: Who were some of your favorite starlets to work with?
JL: Tara Lynn Foxx. Amber Rayne. Gianna Michaels. Girls are going to hate me, 'cause I am only going to give the ones off the top of my head. I only got to do one with her. Olivia O'Lovely. Definitely. Bree Olson. I always have good scenes with Dana DeArmond. On the Black side... I don't want to negate my fellow Black females. Brown Sugar. Delotta Brown. Pinky. We've always done good scenes. Marie Luv, but we didn't get to fuck that much. There were three girls and Amber Rayne was fucking the shit out of me. (LOL)
JL: One-on-ones. Definitely. Just because it's more personable with the female talent. And there's less risk in contracting HIV. Group scenes give you more risk 'cause you're sleeping with multiple people. Three girls and seven guys? You are sleeping with everybody that's there, 'cause everybody is fucking everybody. It's not gay scenes. But, all the guys fucking the girl and you're fucking the girls after the guy. It's just more of a risk.
JL: Absolutely. A gangbang scene was one of the only two scenes I ever walked out of in my life.
JL: I had an issue with the director and how he was talking to me and the girl. He didn't want to chill the fuck out. So, I walked the fuck out. Although, he did blow up my phone for the next 15 minutes. We had the majority of the scene shot. He was in it for the money. He owed the location. He owed the girl and me. I didn't care about the pay when I walked the fuck out. He blew up the phone for the next 15 minutes. As a true professional, since he apologized, I came back and finished the pop shot. We've had a great working relationship ever since. He had to become aware that he couldn't talk all stupid to me 'cause he hired me to do a job.
JL: It offered me a lot of flexibility with my time. I enjoyed the sex obviously... the majority of the time. And obviously the pay. I would put them in pretty much that order. (LOL)
PC: Describe one of your most memorable porn shoots.
JL: I would say AfroDite Superstar. Black males don't get flown around much to get to shoot movies. Besides Japanese stuff, it's the only "feature" feature that I've ever done. And I had a great experience with Venus Hottentot and Candida Royale. Candida Royale is a huge feminine adult movie maker. I did five minutes of sex in that movie, in New York and on location for two weeks with India and Mr. Marcus and various stars from New york. They were just people they brought in. They weren't adult film stars. It was an all around great experience. I loved working with Candida and Venus and her crew. It was just amazing. We are still friends to this day. That's what made me want to do more features, but unfortunately Black people don't get the option to do more features in this industry. I had a great music video in the film. My character was a rapper. He was the most popular rapper in the world in the film. Kwamé did the beats and the lyrics. India was in the studio for so long, unfortunately I didn't get to get into the studio to lace my song. I did lip-sync in the video at a graffiti gallery in downtown New York. You've gotta check that out.
PC: You worked for a lot of popular porn companies (i.e. New Sensations, Black Ice, Sex Z Pictures, Evil Angel, Hustler Video and Black Market). Is there a particular studio you enjoyed working for the most?
JL: I would say... That's tough. I wouldn't say a particular studio. I would say a particular director. How can I say it? A talent is working with a director. He's not working with Steve Hirsch or Larry Flynt or the owner of the studio. You feel more comfortable with some than others. That's what makes you like working for that company more. When one director leaves one company, he takes you with him. And that's happened to me several times. For instance, I love working with Mario Rossi and Brother Love. I don't like the owner of New Sensations at all, and I refuse to shoot for him. You know what I mean? (LOL) It's not really per se working for a production company as working for a director.
PC: You have been featured quite prominently on box covers for several releases. How do you feel about that honor? And did you like the additional self-promotion that comes with being featured on a box cover?
JL: It's cool. But, I'm not a huge ego maniac. I'm not the guy who normally tells people that I'm a porn star. That's how they find out. I'm not the "Do you know who I am?"... That's not me. In the words of Sinbad: "If the words, 'Do you know who I am?' comes out of my mouth, then you probably made a mistake." (LOL) I appreciate the box covers. Whatever I can do to help sell movies I'm in, and help make the company money and provide myself with more work for that company, then I'm down with it. It's cool to get box covers. But, I'm not the guy to say that I've gotten 20 box covers or whatever. It's cool. I can show it to people, so that they know I'm in movies. Lots of people don't believe my friends. Then I'm like, "I'm not trying to convince you. If you don't believe it. That's fine." (LOL) (LOL) It happens quite often. My friend's brother's try to convince them. "What's this? What agency?" I'm not trying to convince you. I don't give a flying fuck if you think I'm a star or not. (LOL) That's how I look at box covers and stuff.
PC: Besides working for DVD producing studios, you were also featured in a variety of hardcore websites. Is there a particular site you enjoyed working for the most?
JL: There's a couple that come to mind. As far as websites are concerned, I loved working with Greg Lanskey over at Reality Kings. I didn't get to do it all that often. I especially loved working with Tony T over at Brazzers, as well as Brett Brando over there. And I especially loved working with Jim Camp for Blacks on Blondes and all the sites coming from the Blacks on Blondes family (Ruth Blackwell, Candy Monroe, Katie Thomas and Spring Thomas).
PC: In a scene, which did you enjoy the most: oral, vaginal sex or anal sex?
JL: Vaginal. Vaginal or anal. I don't hate on either of them.
JL: You know... I liked coming out and popping on her ass or on her pussy.
PC: You shared some scenes with a lot of the top Black male performers in the industry. Are there any male performers you have developed close friendships with?
JL: Me and Shorty Mac are cool. Me and Byron Long are really cool. Obviously me and Sean Michaels are good friends. Me and Mr. Marcus are good friends. Me and Mark Anthony are friends. Me and Jon Jon were really tight. We aren't as we used to be, but we are still tight. Ray Black. Lee Bang. I'm pretty much friends with all the Black male performers. I don't have beefs with any of them. The closest ones I talk to normally, on a regular basis, are Ray Black, Jon Jon, Byron Long, Mr. Marcus, Lee Bang and Shorty. Me and Cuntre Pipes and Wesley Pipes are cool. I'm friends with them all.
PC: How do you feel about the state of ebony erotica today? Do you think interracial's popularity is causing Black-starring porn to be overshadowed?
JL: You know what? To some extent it is. Obviously there's a lot less Black-on-Black shot than there is IR shot. And obviously if there was just Black-on-Black, then people would have no choice but to watch Black-on-Black. The IR... A lot of Black guys like white, Hispanic and Asian girls. If they have that option, they will use it. And when they are watching Black males and white girls or Black girls and white men, that is going to take away from scenes they would have been watching Black-on-Black. I think it sort of overshadows it. But, you know, part of it is honestly Black-on-Black movies need to step their game up a little bit. To tell you the truth, companies shooting Black-on-Black need to step up their game a bit. If that happens, then I think that IR stuff wouldn't overshadow it, 'cause Black people will probably choose to watch Black-on-Black more often.
JL: Everyday. (LOL) Everyday. I experience damn near discrimination, or somebody Black in the industry does, pretty much everyday whether we know it or not. Everyday. I would be booked every day if 60% of the girls in the industry actually did interracial. If you go to the LA Direct site, 75% of the girls on that site do not do IR. Gold Star Modeling from Joel Lawrence, the second biggest agency, 60-70% don't do IR. Every day we are discriminated against. Whether it's me or another Black person. Agents tell girls, "Don't do interracial." Companies aren't allowing girls to do interracial. And girls saying they don't do interracial. We are daily, 'cause agents try to charge directors an extra hundred or more dollars for their booking fee if she does interracial. That's just 'cause she's sleeping with a Black man. That's a charge of an extra 150 bucks. So, a lot of directors won't shoot the girl, or will use a white girl, 'cause they want to shoot the girl and don't have the budget and don't have 150 bucks. Black people are losing jobs there. Vivid won't let Black people, besides Tyler Knight or Mr. Marcus, touch 90% of their contract girls. Sorry, Black guys aren't allowed to touch. So we lose jobs there. We pretty much get discriminated daily throughout the industry.
JL: Yes. Absolutely! That's some of the girl's excuses as to why they don't do interracial, 'cause they don't want to be degraded in the movie, or in a degrading titled movie. I think they do. And what's funny about it... It's white producers and white companies that are doing it. They want to do interracial, but they only focus on the negative of Black people. They don't want to focus on the beauty, or Black men being anything but thugs. Black girls can be things other than apple bottom, ghetto, hoe bitches. I think that's what keeps Black people down a lot. We've been stereotyped in this industry. Sometimes it's just fun. I once played a Black rapper in a Brazzers scene. It was a typical weed smoking rapper. I nailed the white executive at the label, in the boardroom. I had to be ghetto. Some of it is fun. I think that stuff is OK. We can't just limit ourselves. But, some of it goes entirely too far. You can't make parodies of us. I think it needs to be an even playing field. For every movie where it shows Black people in a typical gangster, hood role, they need to do another one showing the Black executive that nails his intern. You know what I mean? Or the Black guy that's actually a homeowner and it's a white landscaping female that comes and he ends up fucking her. Instead of the negro coming in and he's a plumber. Or the nero comes in to install a stereo. Or he's a rapper that just got out of jail. Why can't the negro be the fucking executive or the boss at a company or what have you. Why can't they show a Black man in an intelligent position and in an intelligent light?
JL: No. Dude didn't touch me. (LOL) (LOL) The dude didn't touch me. It's no different than having two different directors there. He's not touching me. I'm not doing any gay shit. He's doing some gay shit after it comes out of my body, and it's not my body. He can do whatever he wants with it. It's not my problem. I normally don't watch them eat it. I'm through with the scene. Fuck that. (LOL) I'm straight, not bi. And I'm not curious about being bi.
PC: Just how big are you below the waist?
JL: I don't disclose. (LOL) I don't disclose because as soon as I say that I'm 10 inches, every guy that's hating on the industry and wants my work will say they are 10 1/2. I don't even disclose to production companies. I won't let them put a ruler next to my dick. How big do you think I am? That's usually what I tell people.
PC: How old were you when you first realized just exactly how much you were packing?
JL: Probably 18. I ain't start having sex until I was 16 1/2. That's when I truly lost my virginity. I had played around before. When I was in fourth grade I stuck my penis in a girl. It tingled like a motherfucker. My first real sex was at 16 1/2.
PC: What kind of reaction do you usually get when a female sees it for the first time?
JL: "Holy shit! You're huge!" (LOL) (LOL) Those exact words man.
JL: Sometimes yeah. I would say about 40% of the time?
PC: Have any starlets ever been able to deep throat your dick?
JL: Yes. Probably about a handful.
JL: It was when I was 16 1/2. I went back to Oregon on spring break and hooked up with an ex-girlfriend as soon as I got there. She came over and gave me the punani. And then it was funny... I cruised the gut in Eugene, Oregon. I met a bunch of girls and went back to this one girl's house. Her mom was a bartender. She was a really cute redhead. She wanted to have sex with me. My friend Darryl had to go home. I was staying with him. I had to leave with him. I went to the bathroom with the girl and she was grabbing my dick as she told me, "Don't leave. I want you to fuck me." The day I lost my virginity I almost got it from two different girls, unrelated, five hours apart. It was kinda interesting. (LOL) That would have been a great story for my grandkids.
PC: What do you enjoy doing sexually?
JL: I love to spoon. I love to spoon. Spooning is great. Mutual masturbation is hot. I love eating pussy, but it's gotta taste good. Love doing a 69. It's hard for me to cum off a blowjob, but I love getting blowjobs, as long as the girl knows how to give a blowjob.
PC: Do you get into any kinds of fetishes?
JL: I guess you could say yeah. I think chicks in fucking latex is hot. And chicks in nylons are hot. Believe it or not, I think bestiality is sorta, kinda hot too. That's an ultimate whore. I think if she'd fuck that horse, she can fuck me. That's nothing I'd probably ever experience, or that I'm dying to experience. (LOL) It's true. Watching a chick fucking take a load of horse in the house... Dude, that's the ultimate whore and that's fucking kinda hot. I'm sorry. I'm a freak of nature. I think that some bondage is hot.
PC: Do you enjoy getting your ass licked?
JL: It's only been done in one movie. It was actually for a website in the Blacks on Blondes family. It was by Cherry Poppins. She gave me a rusty trombone. That's when she licks your ass and gives you a handjob at the same time. It was interesting. I think I could get comfortable with it. I don't like my ass. It's not what I would consider to be my "most flattering" feature. I'm not comfortable with it. I don't mind getting it licked. It feels kinda cool. It's only been done once on film.
PC: You shoot some of the thickest cum loads I have seen in porn. Did you do anything in particular to maintain those large loads?
JL: No. It's really a hit or miss. Sometimes I have thick loads. Sometimes I have really small loads. I try to eat bananas. Drinking pineapple juice makes cum taste good. So, girls will like it. I eat lots of protein. I smoke. It cuts down my sperm count. I've tried to quit forever, but it's difficult. I try to do cardio. Cardio increases your load size as well.
JL: I don't find it necessarily hard to be in a relationship. I don't date porn stars anymore. I've learned my lesson there. But, I didn't have a problem in my relationship because I was in porn. Let's put it that way.
PC: What are a few websites where your fans can view your work?
JL: No. Not really. (LOL) Putting together my own movies and stuff like that? Yeah. But, not as a director or photographer. I wasn't interested in becoming a director or photographer.
PC: Is there an aspect of the industry you didn't enjoy?
JL: The discrimination. And the newer, I guess, practice of girls being escorts and then coming back to work. I don't like that very much at all. I think it's bullshit. A girl does tricks with or without a condom and pretends like her AIM test means something. I don't like discrimination. I don't like the negative aspects of porn people taking advantage of people. So, I don't like directors that go, "Well, I have work for you 'starlet so-and-so' if you'll come fuck me tonight." Or in the bathroom before the scene.
PC: How can your fans reach you?
PC: You recently announced your retirement from the adult industry. What led to your decision to end your porn career?
JL: I decided to finally leave the industry because it really slowed down. I had wanted to leave the industry for quite some time, and with shoots going from 7-10 scenes a week to less than one as of late, I decided it couldn't have been a better time. I would also say that the lack of quality assurance in testing and the lack of testing for more important STDs led to my leaving.
PC: What did you enjoy the most about your time in the adult industry?
JL: I recon the freedom at work and the ability to make my own schedule were the best things about being a star. Obviously some of the ladies I worked with helped.
PC: Do you ever see yourself returning to porn in the future?
JL: No, I don't ever see myself returning to the adult industry. I have been there and done it, and really have no aspirations to return. It's a dangerous job, and is getting more dangerous by the day. It is not the type of job that you can count on. I guess being in this long, and staying above water, was lucky as it was.
I also could not be congenial with some folks anymore due to the out in the open discrimination against Blacks, and could no longer tolerate it in the semi-quiet manner in which I had been tolerating it. I'm entirely too outspoken. I regret that more Black performers aren't the same. I took a lot of heat and hits for being outspoken about the discrimination of Blacks in the industry, and quite honestly think that a lot of Black performers have sold out just to keep there career going with no hurdles.
PC: Now I am going to ask you seven questions that I like to call "Papi Chulo's LIST." These seven questions have been asked to all of my interview subjects. The first question is... What are your Top 5 favorite television shows?
JL: CNN. Law & Order: SVU. Discovery Channel. History Channel. South Park.
PC: McDonald's Big Mac or Burger King's Whopper?
JL: Whopper with bacon and cheese.
PC: Disney or Warner Bros?
PC: What's your favorite color?
JL: Black and white together.
PC: What's your favorite sexual position?
PC: What's your favorite curse word?
JL: Fuck. (LOL) And I use it a lot.
PC: If you could be anywhere right now... Where would you be?
JL: Awe shit. Anywhere right this minute? I would like to be... Damn! That's a good question. Right this minute I would like to be... Wow! That's a tough question man. If I could be anywhere right this minute... If I had a plane ticket to go somewhere, I would say Ibiza, Spain.
PC: Well this brings us to the end of our interview. Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
JL: I absolutely love my fans. I adore my fans. I speak with my fans. And I return all my emails, 'cause I'm still a guy and I don't get an overwhelming amount. Whether you're straight, gay, bi, transsexual, transgendered... I don't care. I'm straight. I'm not bi. I'm not curious about being bi. But, I love everybody. And I don't get to see you all very often, 'cause I don't go to many shows. I sort of, kinda, boycott AVN and I'm normally not at LA Eroticas or Adult Cons. They normally don't invite Black people to NightMoves. That's sort of a white convention. They normally don't invite Black people much to the FOX Awards in Los Angeles. That's more for the white people. But, if you hit me up, I will definitely talk to you. I'm not a bougie motherfucker. That's for sure. I definitely love y'all. I appreciate your support. Let me know you're out there.
