NBC Cancels Undercovers

NBC has canceled J.J. Abrams' Undercovers after airing seven episodes. The network will not be picking up the back nine episodes of the romantic spy series.

New episodes will still air on November 10 and 17 and December 1. The network may run three additional finished episodes at a later date.

The ratings-challenged spy caper just didn't catch on with viewers. Which is a complete shame. It was the only network television series (in years!) with two Black actors as the lead characters.

The series truly had a lot of potential.

Undercovers airs Wednesdays @ 8pm on NBC.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw Cast in J.J. Abrams' Undercovers

British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been cast as the female lead in J.J. Abrams new NBC spy drama Undercovers. The dramedy focuses on married spies.

Mbatha-Raw was cast as Samantha Bloom opposite former Soul Food star Boris Kodjoe, who was previously cast as her husband, Steven Bloom. Gerald McRaney co-stars as the couple's boss.

Abrams will direct the Undercovers pilot.

Boris Kodjoe to Star in NBC's The Undercovers

Soul Food alum Boris Kodjoe has signed on to play the male lead in J.J. Abrams new spy drama for NBC, The Undercovers.

The Undercovers revolves around spouses Samantha and Steven Bloom, who work together as spies. Kodjoe will play Steven.

Veteran actor Gerald McRaney has signed on to play the CIA operative who serves as the couple's boss.

Still to be cast is Steven's wife.

The Undercovers premieres in the fall of 2010.
