In the News :: Flo Rida Arrested in Florida for DUI

Flo Rida was arrested Thursday morning in Miami Beach, Florida for driving under the influence. The 31-year-old rapper, born Tramar Dillard, was pulled over in his red and black 2008 Bugatti around 3:30am on Thursday, June 9, 2011. Police noticed him swerving repeatedly between lanes.

Police observed Flo Rida's bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on his breath. The officer administered a field sobriety test, but the rapper flunked it. Then a Breathalyzer... which registered a blood alcohol level of 0.185 (more than double the state's legal limit). Flo was also driving with a suspended license for failing to pay a previous traffic citation.

Flo Rida was taken into custody and booked at a nearby police station for suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license. Bail was set at $2,000.

The arrest report states that the "Right Round" rapper told an officer when asked to "walk the line" that he couldn't do it, saying "I had a few drinks. Let's try another test."

In the News :: Ja Rule Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Ja Rule was sentenced to two years in prison in a New York City courtroom on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, six months after pleading guilty to felony attempted criminal possession of a weapon. As he was hauled off in handcuffs, he told his supporters in the courtroom (and his wife, Aisha) "See y'all later."

The rapper born Jeffrey Atkins was booked into custody at a city jail as he awaits word on his final lockup destination. Ja and Lil Wayne were arrested the same night back in July 2007 on gun charges after police found a semiautomatic handgun in Ja Rule's sports car.

Mr. "Always on Time" also pleaded guilty in March to tax evasion for owing more than $3 million in New Jersey back taxes. He's also facing prison time in that case, and could get three additional years behind bars for his cash problems.

In the News :: Rising Adult Star Preslee Bangs Passes Away

Adult industry newcomer Preslee Bangs passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 in a motorcycle accident. Bangs was on his motorcycle when he was hit by a truck in Orlando, FL. He was 22.

According to reports, the truck was in the left turn lane on Sand Lake Road when a motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Carl Simmons struck the right rear of the truck. Parts of the motorcycle continued across the road, hitting a traffic signal pole. [Florida Highway Patrol] says the second motorcycle also hit the truck. The 22-year-old driver has not yet been identified. Both motorcyclists were treated at the scene and taken to a hospital, where they later died.

Bangs had recently signed with Ideal Image Management.

In the News :: Clarice Taylor Passes Away

Actress Clarice Taylor, best known as Anna Huxtable, mother of Bill Cosby's Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 in Englewood, NJ. Taylor succumbed to heart failure. She was 93.

Clarice Taylor was one of the founding members of the Negro Ensemble Company. Her career spanned the stage, the big and small screen, as well as radio. She was in the original Broadway cast of The Wiz (as the Good Witch) and was a supporting player in Clint Eastwood's Play Misty For Me.

But her most memorable role was that of the loving mother and grandmother to the Huxtables on The Cosby Show, a role that earned her an Emmy nomination in 1986.

Bill Cosby: "Clarice was a hip mother, fearless. She drove her Corvette all over Brooklyn and Harlem. Danica Patrick had nothing on her."

Taylor is survived by two sons and five grandchildren.

President Obama's Speech on Osama bin Laden Outdraws Royal Wedding, Recent Policy Addresses

President Barack Obama's speech Sunday night announcing the death of Osama bin Laden drew twice as many viewers as last week's Royal Wedding and outpaced his recent policy addresses.

Despite being announced at a late hour on the East Coast, the President's telecast was watched by 56.5 million viewers.

That's more than Obama's recent scheduled and promoted primetime addresses, such as March 28's speech on Libya (25.6 million) and his August speech on Iraq (29.2 million), as well as more than doubling the audience of the Royal Wedding (22.8 million).

The networks carrying the address included ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, CNN, Fox News Channel, HLN and MSNBC.

In related news... President Obama will sit down with CBS' 60 Minutes on Sunday, May 8 for his first interview after announcing Osama bin Laden's death.

In the News :: FOX Pulls Hurricane-Themed Animation Crossover Event

FOX decided that Sunday's hurricane-themed crossover stunt would have been in poor taste.

The network is delaying the previously announced episodes of Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show due to the recent storms and tornado damage in the Southeast that have killed at least 300 people.

The episodes will air sometime next season.

Millions Watch Royal Wedding: William & Kate Outdraws Charles & Diana in US

Despite a 6am start time on Friday, the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton drew a king-size US audience.

The wedding coverage was carried live from about 6am to 7:15am on 11 networks and drew 22.8 million viewers and 18.6 million households.

That's a larger number of households than watched Prince Charles wed Lady Diana in 1981 (which drew 14.2 million households, with no viewership numbers available). By comparison, about the same number of people watched American Idol's performance show this week (22 million), and 28.9 million watched President Obama's inauguration.

The ceremony from Westminster Abbey was carried by ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, BBCA, CNN, E!, FOXNC, MSNBC and TLC.

Across the pond, however, Charles and Diana still rule. Nearly 27 million viewers in the UK watched Kate trade vows with William on BBC, ITV or Sky News, compared to the 28.4 million who tuned in for the royal wedding 30 years ago. Friday's ceremony also ranked behind UK coverage of Princess Diana's 1997 funeral.

In the News :: President Barack Obama Announces to the Nation -- Osama bin Laden Dead

President Barack Obama announced last night that Osama bin Laden is dead.

In a nine-minute, late-night address from the White House, Obama said the suspected architect of the 9/11 terror attacks had been killed earlier Sunday by U.S. forces in Pakistan.

President Barack Obama: "Tonight I can report to the American people and the world, the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaeda and a terrorist who's responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Nearly 3,000 citizens taken from us, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts ... The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al-Qaeda. His death does not mark the end of our effort..."

Bin Laden had been on the FBI's most-wanted list since the late 1990s.

President Barack Obama: "Justice has been done."

In the News :: Usher Sex Tape Being Peddled

It seems that there's video proof that Usher got his on-camera freak on with his then-wife Tameka Foster. The purported footage from a video is being previewed and offered up for sale to the highest bidder.

Usher has yet to comment on the reports, but Tameka has confirmed that a sex tape exists on her Twitter page (@TamekaRaymond).

Tameka Foster (via Twitter): "NEWSFLASH!! BREAKING NEWS! GUESS WHAT??!! I have copulated w/my husband! O_O. Why is this news again?? #ConfusedTweet. End of discussion."

Ms. Foster, the news isn't that you had sex with Usher, it's that there's a possibility the whole world will be able to become a witness to said act.

Tameka Foster: "Yes, I cant stress over what I cant change. Hey I was married, happily. So theres a chance that we might...Its silly 'news' 2 me."

Tameka issued this formal statement to TheYBF.com on Monday morning:

Yes, I have had sex with my husband. Multiple times. Would I sanction a sex tape being out? Absolutely not. I am a mother and entrepreneur. Sex tapes or pornography would not be my lane. I have no desire to be seen in that way.

So, how did the tape get out? Well, back in 2009, Usher's car was broken into and over $1 million worth of fur, jewelry and electronics were stolen. Among the items missing were two laptops (apparently loaded with footage of the then-married couple fooling around).

In the News :: Jim Morrison Gets Posthumously Pardoned

Lame duck Florida Governor Charlie Crist got his wish. Rocker Jim Morrison was pardoned by the outgoing governor Crist. Morrison was arrested and convicted for indecent exposure and profanity following a 1969 concert in Miami.

Though he was convicted in 1970, there has never been any photographic evidence supporting the charges.

Charlie Crist: "In this case the guilt or innocence is in God's hands, not ours."
